"A Celebration of the Family" is coming to the Sacramento City College Auditorium, November 17, 2001 beginning at 11:00 am. This Celebration will host a variety of events for the family including workshops, nationally known speakers, and entertainment from both local and visiting musical groups.

The celebration is co-sponsored by United Families International of Northern California, The Catholic Diocese of Sacramento, Campaign for California Families and The World Congress of Families. The goal of these groups is to bring families of various beliefs and backgrounds together for a day of reflection on, and celebration of, the importance of family.

 Invited speakers scheduled to date include: 

Reggie White, Athlete, Social Activist, and Promoter of Family Solidarity 

J.C. Watts, Congressman, Champion of Family Rights 

Father Richard Garcia, Sacramento Bishop for Hispanic Affairs 

Cheko Okizaki, former LDS General Relief Society Counselor 

Star Parker, founder & President of the Coalition on Urban Renewal &Education

Workshops will include: 

Reggie White, "The Importance of Fathers in Family Solidarity" 

J.C. Watts, Congressman, "National Legislation and Family Rights" 

Father Richard Garcia, "The Spiritual Foundation of the Family" 

Cheko Okizaki, "Women as Wives, Mothers, and People" 

Star Parker, "You Can Do It" 

Brad Dacus, Esq. "Taking Back the Schools" 

Randy Thomasson, "Taking Back the Legislature" 

Mesha Davis, Eight Principals of Highly Successful Parenting
